(More customer reviews)The device was relatively easy to install in my 2007 Audi A3 with a concert radio (no disc changer). I had to sacrifice a coat hanger to make a hook to pull the cable through to the glove box.Otherwise, it was straight forward. Took about an hour.Would take a lot less for an experienced installer (a few minutes I would guess).You will need to buy the European radio removal tools also.If you buy from Crutchfield, they come for free, if you buy on Amazon, they are around $10.But, you still may get a better deal on Amazon if you shop around.
It charges the 3G iPhone too.However, it will not pass the text display to the radio (for any iPod/iPhone), which can make navigation tricky.Dice tells me they will be making a new version for the Audi later this year, which will use the Sat output, rather than the CD changer output from the radio, and that this will allow the text display.It may be worth it to wait for that one. However, there are different modes - if you want, you can run it not controlled via the car radio, and just use the audio out form your iPod and control it from the iPod.But, you lose audio quality and you lose the ability to switch tracks etc. from the steering wheel controls, which is great to have while driving. The device allows you to browse your iPod/iPhone by the categories:
CD1 = Track #
CD2 = Playlist
CD3 = Album
It would be a great improvement to add an "artist" sort to this also.Overall, this product does what the company told me it would do, and I am happy with it.I will probably replace it when the next version comes out with the text display though.
