I installed the AXIPTA in an 09 Camry Hybrid with JBL radio and factory XM radio installed. The concept of the product is great - using the satellite radio interface gives you far more functionality than a product that uses the CD changer interface. The execution however is flawed - despite a lot of help from the vendor (Crutchfield) and directly from Scosche, I could not get the product to work reliably. So now I am going to try the iSimple and see if it works better.

The goods:
*Sound quality is usually great (when it works, see Issues below)
*It takes some getting used to, but the control through the JBL radio is fairly simple.Once you select sat radio, button 6 switches on the Ipod. You then can search by artist, playlist, album etc. using the "scan" button as a select button. The control is non-intuitive, so it takes a little practice with the instructions to make it work.

The others:
*The track up/down buttons on the steering wheel do nothing in iPod mode, so you have to work the stereo buttons.

Installation:In the Hybrid with XM, the unit installs in the trunk, passenger-side.It's pretty simple to remove the various trunk panels in the Camry to get to the XM radio, which is nearly hidden behind an inner panel.(get some extra panel fasteners from a dealer or online- I used Northland Fasteners, in case you break a few pulling off panels)The hard part is routing the iPod cable to your center console from the trunk.I routed it past the hybrid battery, under the rear seat and carpet, into the back of the center console by drilling a just-large enough hole in the rear corner.

Issues:
I went through two adapters tested with two different iPods. Each adapter had this problem: when I listened to the iPod through the adapter, the sound would degrade to where the volume level was noticeably lower and distorted. This sometimes happened on startup, but most often happened randomly over time.If I hit button 6 twice on the factory radio to switch back and forth between the XM radio and iPod, then it cleared up - every time. But it would sooner or later start to exhibit the distortion again, so on a normal drive I was resetting the unit with preset 6 about every 20 minutes.

Nothing I tried fixed this problem.Changing out all of the adapters, cables, AXIPTA, and iPod model did not fix it.After operating the unit for several months, I noticed more issues with iPod control.
* When I first selected a new album, artist, etc and then tried to select a new track, it would randomly skip ahead until (apparently) it finishes loading up all of the data from the iPoD.
* My unit also would randomly "skip" a second or two of a song, not very often, about every half hour.
* Every once and a while the ipod control (from the radio) would do strange and random things.usually re-starting the iPod (either button 6 or unplug/replug) would fix it.

Bottom line, it would have been great if it worked reliably - easily 5 stars.
