These are not mounting brackets.These are mounting guides to assist in positioning the speakers before drywall is installed.These provide no support for the speakers to the joists.Each guide consists of a plastic ring attached to a flimsy mesh part through which you are supposed to drill to the joist.The ring has a lip which indicates where in the drywall to cut the hole, and how big to cut the hole.
I don't think these are very useful.Once the drywall is installed, it's not difficult to cut a hole where you want the speaker; you don't need a guide for that (unless you lose your studfinder).
