(More customer reviews)There were no reviews on these speakers so I took a chance primarily based on their design- a 6.5" woofer and a fabric dome tweeter. As far as I'm concerned, you should only buy a speaker with a 5.25" woofer if you plan to use a subwoofer since the lower bass tends to get distorted on small woofers and color the rest of the lower frequencies.And polycarbonate tweeters (cheap plastic discs rather than domes) are harsh and have lousy lower treble.
So that brings me to the AudioSource LS62. For the price they are fantastic. The bass is strong, but slightly boomydue to the cabinet being made out of plastic rather than wood. But they're outdoor speakers so there's really no other choice for materials. The tweeters are fairly smooth and have a good range. The only real gripe I have is that these speakers don't have a crossover, so the midrange is a little pronounced since the woofer and tweeter are both overlapping slightly and producing the same midrange frequencies. You'd have to literally spend hundreds more to get crossovers and a denser cabinet.
I certainly wouldn't use these as main speakers inside my house, but for using them on the porch they are fantastic. They get plenty loud with a 15 watt/channel Pyle amp.I would highly recommend these-especially for under 1 benjamin.
